The term neoliberal has been used by establishment apologists as a slur against libertarians (old school liberals). They view as axiomatic that anything wrong with our fascistic corporatist/statist economy is because of laissez faire heresy. Aaron Mate, for whom I have respect, recently used it to describe neocons posing as liberals in support of their god of war — which would include hack writers pretending to be journalists at The Atlantic, NYT, WaPo and The Guardian. It would be more accurate to refer to these as neofascists, cryptofascists or pseudo-liberals.
God forbid it dawns on these frauds that America is bankrupted by the military industrial complex and profligate spending for pork barrel politics, supported by a lousy bang for the buck tax system and endless debt piled on future generations, who have no say in the matter; and perpetually inflated fiat currency, which drains the value of wages on behalf of elites, who call themselves liberals and drive Teslas to the private jets they ride in. This is what the bloviators refer to as our democratic system and rules based world order. Dems what gots da gold makes da rules. To be sure, as this is anticompetitive and antimeritocratic it has little to do with actual capitalism, but that too is a term which means nothing like what its best practitioners meant. Liberal, like capitalism and vaccine, belongs in the waste bin of newly useless yet overused terms.
