This is no exaggeration. You personally have run out of time to listen to what Greenwald is saying and decide what you want to do about it. He has been one of the best voices on this critical issue for the last 10 years. He is not a multimillionaire shill but is someone who has put everything on the line.
I personally believe it’s time for the 99% to remove the consent without which governments, whatever their banner or brand, can function. Unfortunately, the remedies which seemed to work in the past cannot work now because organizing and exercising one’s lawful rights have been criminalized, essentially everywhere. Statism is a problem that grows geometrically with the state’s involvement in our lives. The state, bigtech, mainstream media, the top universities and elite schools, and most of the top corporations are all the same blob now. They owe no allegiance to any local constitutional conventions or legacies of individual rights.
Understand that great powers want to be able to censor and arrest people like me just for saying this — and they are increasingly doing it all over the world.
The silver lining is that autocrats invariably shoot themselves in the foot by choking individual initiative and hence productivity. They are parasites. But at the end of the day, autocrats gonna autocrat, whether they claimed, like George Soros, to be for open societies yesterday or not. What you can do is help their natural entropy along by getting out of the way.
So get ready for them to shut down social media. Invest in yourself by learning how to make and fix things people need in order to survive. Enjoy the outdoors and the arts. Enrich your mind and spirit through self-directed or guided reading, study and practice. Spend quality time with family and friends. Pray to God in whatever way seems good to you. And disobey and deflate the rulers however you can.
