The state of world hunger is plenty bad, especially in Africa. One might say it’s their problem. They mostly have governments which they voted in. On the other hand, we know philanthropaths have written new chapters of colonialist oppression in recent years by using Africa as a dumping ground for things they can’t sell in their own countries or for which they might go to jail if it weren’t mostly affecting poor people over there, instead of suburbanites over here. Of course this all changed with Ronamania, but that’s another story.
One’s take on this might be altered by realizing that in North America, we have a crisis of obesity which disproportionately affects poor people. They are literally dying of malnutrition, but looking at articles like this you’d never no how this is hurting them and costing society in healthcare and other social impacts. One might say this is voluntary and on them. While technically true, they are put at risk through indoctrination to eat poorly and lack of healthy alternatives because of where they live, inflation and the worsening food supply, which also disproportionately affect them.
I don’t have, and don’t believe there are, easy answers to these problems. However I am sure that most of our public institutions, NGOs and corporations are failing all but their top investors and controllers.
Two things which I’m sure won’t work are: inviting millions more illegal immigrants into America; and trusting the US government or WHO to fix anything.
I also see this as a class war issue which affects humanity. We desperately need solidarity among the 99%, and cannot afford to be intentionally split along racial, ethnic or religious lines.
