I have loved this song by Tom Paxton since it first came out. Things have gotten much worse since then with respect to incredible corporate welfare combined with the controlled demolition of the middle class in America.
[Chorus:]
I am changing my name to Chrysler,
I am going down to Washington, D.C.
I will tell some power broker
What they did for Iacocca
Will be perfectly acceptable to me.
I am changing my name to Chrysler,
I am headed for that great receiving line,
And when they hand a million grand out
I’ll be standing with my hand out,
Yes sir, I’ll get mine.

WHEREAS the government exists to rob and then rape hard working people on behalf of the chosen, and,
WHEREAS the system is parasitical and cannot survive without the efforts of producers,
IT therefore behooves producers to join the parasites. Take what you can from the government parasites. Give nothing back.
The next point is equally simple and no less important.
WHEREAS existing government run or controlled institutions for public functions are corrupt and doomed to incompetence and counterproductivity but those functions are necessary,
CREATE and participate in parallel but external and unreported or concealed alternative voluntary associations to perform necessary tasks for mutual benefit. This is how savings banks, schools, insurance companies, fire departments and community defense (militias) all started and need to be recreated.
Volumes have, can and will be written about voluntary associations, but the critical idea is that they are in and of the communities they serve and are mutual rather than corporate in structure.
Goodnight and good luck!
I’m linking an old fave rave from the Bruce because it sums up how I feel. It’s 40 years old and highly relevant today. And I am now and always will be a rocker.
